10-12% hospitalization rate is very serious. That said, anyone who is hospitalized is almost by definition “serious”. Anyone in an ICU is “critical”. I don’t mean to make it sound insignificant, to the contrary... but we need time.

As far as I know, this is the first time in history when the public can keep close track of an evolving pandemic, with updates of the global situation being published every few hours. Speaking of which...

The number of cases is up to 14495.

The number of cases in the 10 provinces following Hubei is 3623 — with only 4 deaths. 0.11% mortality.

Very hard to explain the striking difference in mortality between Hubei and the rest of China - and the world... so far. Let’s hope it stays this way.

Edit - One guess (to explain the discrepancy) could be that the disease is far more prevalent in Hubei than anyone imagines - and only the relatively few - worst - cases come to light?? That could explain it... but we don’t know.
