Not quite there yet but Monday evening should see me back to 90+ deg heat and humidity. A solid week of rain and temps around 12-14 deg C make me think I may never return to New ENgland on a permanent basis.

I wish that I could provide you and others with more 'hard' data on some of the companies in Malaysia. It is VERY diffiecult to get at the information we all are used to being provided by US companies. It isn't necessarily anything dodgy going on, it just isn't common practice for people here to ask for this type information BEFORE investing.

I think it was on this thread, maye not, that some of the best advice about investing in Asia was put forth. You must remember that "investing" is gambling on sure things - you hope -. The average (little guy) investor here bets on feelings and products they know or someone they know in the company. The big guys "invest" on information you and I would kill to get access to. In other words very little in-depth financial study is done in the manner we see daily on this thread and others.

Again I sound like a big naysayer here and that's not the point I'm trying to make. There are a lot of GOOD companies and not only in Malaysia, but you have to dig, dig, dig, and have patience. Some of these guys are so badly beaten that they could double on any day and still be worth less than 30% of what they should be trading at. Sime Darby is one I have been snooping around for a couple of months - not sure where they are trading today - but they COULD be a winner. There is a lot of rumors flying around and I prefer to wait for the dust to settle a bit. The last I looked they were about $1 and change (USD) and might be trading in the $14 -$20 area if they were a US company and the books are cool.

Enough for tonight my fingers just got a lot stupider ;-)
