Wuhan virus update. Number of confirmed cases is up to 28,209. Out of them 19,665 in Hubei.

Out of 565 deaths reported, only 16 occurred outside Hubei.

Case fatality rate is ~2.8% in Hubei and ~0.19% for other parts of China plus internationally.

It’s an incredible discrepancy, but as far as I know, so far it hasn’t received any attention. Unless the Johns Hopkins site uses totally fake, off the wall data, I think this has important implications. I keep repeating what I think is the likely explanation, but just in case anyone missed it...

IMO the infection is apparently very widespread in Hubei - but most cases are mild, and only the worst ones came to attention. The high death rate in Hubei, therefore, is an artifact caused by testing mostly very sick individuals. The true mortality of the disease will prove to be closer to what we see outside the province of Hubei.
