FWIW,
Siemens has recently made a deal with Fonix, a much maligned speech recognition company based in Salt Lake City. THey have indicated they intend to incorporate Fonix' technology ("the best we (siemens) have seen") into communication chipsets. Whether this has anything to do with their move into DSPs, I just don't know. Fonix is generally considered to be a vaporware, internet hype company and it's stock has been trashed lately despite the Siemens deal. I have followed Amati and Fonix now for a couple of years and am really interested to find out if there is any connection.
