I'm adopting technology much slower than most people. Our neighbor told us about these yesterday. I might look into them, but at this point I don't have a practical reason why I should?

Years ago I used to teach programming. I do programming and occasionally design electronic devices. Not an "official" part of my job (the one that earns me a living :-)) but doing these things makes my job so much easier. People come to me when their gadgets don't work. So you might say that I'm a "tech" kind of person.

Now all that being said to make this point:

I don't have a practical reason why I should?

Absolutely no reason.

Although I love gadgets, my home computer and iPhone tends to be a number of generations back and I don't like unnecessary complexity. A fridge connected to the internet? Ha - no way! Remotely switch through a smartphone app - nah. Unless it is compelling in that it makes my life easier.

So I agree with you wholeheartedly!
