I heard wrong then. Still I'd like to know what the rate might be taking an average confirmed-case date against the current death rate.

I suppose past breakouts like SARS or MERs have day-to day confirmed case/death data logs to mine for comparisons of various rates to the final rate.

Along with the asymptomatic spreaders. That's the feature that has made this outbreak the world news item of the century so far; and what has spread a hoarding panic for masks and for mega-city lockdowns in China.
