Fubho, I think this phrase is pretty darn accurate:
Democrats have not only wasted three years of going after President Donald Trump, their "fantasy football politics" have strengthened him and left the party without a candidate to replace him, according to CNN's Van Jones.

I'm a fan of the Washington Redskins, and I watched as the current owner of the team, Dan Snyder, turned the storied franchise into one of the biggest jokes of the NFL. And the way he did it was, among other things, to manage the team like it's "fantasy football."

Now that the dream of impeachment has faded away, the Dems are waking up to reality. And they're just now figuring out how f----d they are.

That shouldn't be the case in a nation where almost half of Americans hate Trump and want to see him removed from office by any means necessary. This should have been a cakewalk for the Democrats.
