| | | Something tweaked me, too, a few days back... and I did a quick cruise around SI doing an informal survey of the lefties here...
They continue on in the bubble they've built... continue trying to re-enforce it as required to prevent the cognitive dissonance that reality would otherwise impose. There's no perception, at all, that the news they're getting from liberal sources... might be inadequate... and no interest at all in truth... rather than conformity.
I think SI provides a useful ability to measure some of the more important metrics re opinion... which isn't all and only about the content, just as much about the level of excitement, or the lack of it... the level of participation, or the lack of it...
The numbers in posts and participation are waning on the lefty sites... and, the quality in opinion, or even effort, just isn't there.
I'd categorize most of the posting as "defensive social maintenance". There's no meaningful analysis... of anything. There's no original thought...
What there is... is delusional.
Hadn't considered it before... but the impression I get is one of "going through the motions" and doing that with a "flat affect"... leaves me suspecting the the laft today are driving the profits of drug companies selling increasingly powerful anti-depressants.
The left is out of viable "connected" alternatives... which explains the abysmal quality of the candidates, and the increasing detachment they present as "alternatives" to the voters.
I've been posting for some years now that the things we're seeing... look to me very much like the parallel in historical events in the late 1700's to the 1810's... as the Federalist Party failed, imploded, and disappeared... for much the same reasons Democrats are failing today...
I think Trump will kill the Democrat Party in 2020.... the events following the Obama legacy are not that different than secretive events at the Hartford Convention... the northern Federalists colluding, not to mount a coup... but to leave the Republic and re-join England...
Read Rosenthal's "American Aurora" if you get a chance... a historical background that is essential reading for understanding the issues and the politics of our own time... |
