There is a "reward" for acts. it may be a reward in heaven or it may be only a reward on Earth. It all depends on the motive of one's heart. "Let not your right hand know what your left hand is doing". Don't ask for earthly praise for one's giving. If that is what you need, then that is all you are going to get. Store up your rewards in heaven where the moths can not eat them and the rust can not foul them. .

In other words only God can judge the intentions of those who appear to be "living right". It is not for us to determine. We need to "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling". First "get the beam out of one's own eye before noticing the splinter in someone else's eye".
