Tom, Bruce: thanks. IMHO, here is a possible ominous scenario for Monday, January the 26, 1998: Here is the sequence of events that could unfold: ú equities in US stockmarket overpriced (we knew that!) ú Clinton blew it (oh! well!) ú Mean and nasty independent council getyin at Clinton, real good (nasty!) ú US citizens somewhat surprised but riveted by the Clinton-Starr-Tripp-Lewsinky bulls..t ú Tonight, US citizens speak about superbowl and Clinton and get drunk! ú Asians and Europeans have pulled the plug on the $ for the last 3 days ú Asians and Europeans are buying gold ú Asians and Europeans planned strategies over the weekend to stop investing in US equities ú Asians and Europeans even panic a bit and have allready lined up some market SELL orders at the opening for some US equitities ú Asians and Europeans have ammo ready to buy some gold on Monday ú Asians and Europeans lamant about the $ and sell some more of it ú US citizens by now are laughing at Clinton, are drunk and barely follow the superbowl game ú US citizens go to bed semiconscious and not worried because Einhorn has said (in Barron's) that somebody said that gold is not the way to go ú Asia, by then is allready buying their own asian stocks and sell US equitities and US dollars and buy some more cheap gold. Same for the Europeans. ú US citizens wake up Monday morning with headaches. GreenBay won, but the SP futures suggest an opening for Wall Street about 50 points down (not too bad) ú US citizens buy some stocks here and there ú Gold takes off during the day ú Dollars drops further ú and the DOW sinks for another BBM (Big Black Monday) and US citizens say:... duh!...What happened? Just one possible ominous scenario here! Bravo Independent Council and Superbowl! What a super timing! Thank you. Gaston
Oh! Yes! I forgot! This is a gold thread. Greenbay won. Goldbugs end up winning too at the end of the day Monday (I hope) after a fierce battle during the day between shorts, big players and individula investors. |
