Based on the early morning data, which is subject to revision at 1100hrs HKT, the rate of new cases has declined again (see fig 2 at front of data base and sections "Cases" and "Other Analysis". The peak was on Feb 5.

the detailed figure for Chinese Provinces are still being reported but the national figures have been reported as at 0600hrs HKT this morning as usual.

Based on this preliminary data global new confirmed cases in the most recent 24 hrs fell from 2548 to 1688; in China Mainland from 2467 to 1673 and in the rest of the world from 81 to 15. I stress that this data is preliminary and subject to revision later in the morning

Of course there is always the possibility that the mass travel of last weekend will cause the figures to spike again after 10-14 days incubation period, but for the moment the trend is down. The first derivative of new confirmed cases (the rate of change in the rate of change in confirmed cases) is now negative globally (see "Other Analysis" section of the Database).

final figures will be released in the Database at 1100hrs HKT.
