I am surprised to see Savitz saying this: "DRAM is used in desktop computers and servers, while NAND is flash memory, found in smartphones and solid-state hard drives." Actually both types of chips are used in all of those things, but never mind.

This is a generally correct statement for an article aimed at the memory layman. The amount of DRAM in solid state devices is negligible to the overall DRAM market, and NAND present in a desktop computer or server would generally be confined to a storage device.
