We can't build our way out of the housing crisis because it takes 10 fuckin' years just to overcome all the regulatory hurdles and the legal challenges from the NIMBY crowd All we need are more regulations... A few months back someone posted on our neighborhood elist their tale if woe regarding the construction of an in-law unit in their backyard. Suffice it to say it took three years to build and cost ~$600k! The permits/etc. were over $100k! In much of flyover country you can buy a house for $100k. And most Californians think this is normal. UFB!
