Every time we became dogless, we decided not to rush into getting another one. You know, do all the things for a while which are hard to do when you have a canine. Both times it lasted 3 or 4 months. A house without a dog just isn't our thing and a walk without a dog just isn't a walk.

Also, we found the best way to get past the grieving stage is a new dog and preferably not the same breed just to avoid endless and useless comparison between old and new.
