Thanks Len, VSB transmissions offer very interesting possibilites to local broadcasters, to say the least.

Rather than linking a huge hard drive to the TV, seems that a re-recordable DVD (not yet on the market) would be a more economical and more useful play (video gobbles up one helluva lot of bytes).

The broadcasters aren't going to be able to pull this off (collecting extra revenue for PPV, VOD, ISP, etc..) without paying either a user's tax or some percentage tax to the Feds. Also, Congress is going to get on their butts if they don't deliver at least prime-time programming in HDTV mode (1080 lines interlace scan or 750 lines progressive scan).

After reading this piece, I'm more bullish than ever in the stocks of local broadcasters, premium content providers (especially, AOL and..... a real interesting play, Spice Entertainment) and in Zenith.
