The corona deaths lag the infections by weeks. So I guess the death rate is about 5% not the commonly touted 2%. It's not 0.028%.

If half of China got infected that would be 5% of 1.3 billion = 6 million dead and hordes of seriously ill. No wonder they are trying to stop it.

Even at 1% mortality that's a million dead and way beyond tolerable.

It's good training for when a humanized h5n1 virus with 70% mortality goes rampant.
