Well, it's too late. Sold 50%, got original amount paid back + some profit. Am leaving the rest to age, like a fine Bordeaux. Cost basis = 0. Hope the wine won't be corked when opened.

The shares in son's retirement have not been touched. They'll age in the financial oak barrel like a great Islay single malt. If son gets no inheritance for whatever reason, God forbid, compound interest will ease his way into a pleasant retirement. I started his IRA when he turned 20.

Wish I could turn back the clock for myself or that the power of compound interest had been drilled into my hormone-addled brain when I was in my 20s.
