Fourscore Samarian shekels would have weighed 3.42 grams * 80 = 273.6 grams. Or about 8.8 Troy ounces silver depending on purity. Equivalent to maybe $161 US for an asses head. For comparison, you can buy a whole donkey today for around $200. Just the head might run you $20 (would need to research the Chinese meat market to get a more accurate price). So maybe it was about 8X the "normal" price. But that is a big WAG with a lot of assumptions. <g>
