I concede that it is possible that bernie will win the nomination. It could happen the same way that Trump won--too many people competing in the "moderate" lane splitting the vote between them. So Bernie wins a plurality of the vote. Then maybe one of the others cut a deal with him to deliver some of their votes to him.

He will still get clobbered in the general. You know about his being a deadbeat dad when he was in his 20s? The Rs love to bring that stuff up. Bernie is a guy who has never done anything but win some elections in a quirky small state. He hasn't joined or put together any coalitions in the Senate.
