First off I deeply appreciate your comments over the years. Boots on the ground so to speak.
Second it would be very difficult to see voluntary action by a large majority of American's letting their government track them. Tough sell.
The why not is many faceted. I think the technology can greatly aide in helping to contain the virus spread, but the people have to cooperate.
Right now, large blocks of our people are ignorant of, or are too busy to pay attention. They believe what they listen to, or watch, the most. They mistrust our government, the media, etc.
Strangely this attitude of mistrusting our institutions, media, FBI, CIA, CDC, NSF, etc., really took hold about 3 1/2 years ago. Before that most American's figured that they were all working for the good of America. I still do. My beliefs haven't changed a bit, though the media does have branches devoted to promoting this mistrust (Which is ironic if you think about it.).
I am afraid this factor, and the budget and staff cuts to the CDC, are going to make this virus pretty bad even in our county. We also have many areas where homeless, or street people, live that are going to be near impossible to protect without a vaccine. |
