Glenn, Not to argue with a M.D but:

"We have vaccines and treatment coming versus the flu which kills many and we have treatments."

It will be a good while before a vaccine is readily available, if ever, for the new virus.

There still is no vaccine for the swine flu as an example.

Most evidence that I have read indicates the corona virus is spread very much like the flu is spread.

Not as infectious as norovirus or ebola. It also seems that the corona virus doesn't want to kill it's host.

As for death rates it depends on the country. Countries without ICU units, enough medical personnel and hospitals that only treat those who show up with cash will have much higher death rates.

As a side note, my wife just got back from having her nails done and said what a small world. The Chinese fellow who did her nails comes from Wuhan and has family there. He said that 2 or 3 days before the quarantine went into full effect and word got out. He said thousands fled before the city was fully locked down.

It also seems the spread is inevitable because there are evidently many Mary Mallon's out there that demonstrate no symptoms.

Hopefully, the virus will dissapear soon much like the flu does every year and next year we will hear that it is the Cold and Flu and covid 19 season.
