Tony Fauci says his sense is the mortality rate for Covid is close to 1% for the general population. But with a 10.5% mortality in those with pre-existing cardiac disease and a 15% mortality in those over 85. The mortality figures from many nations are skewed because the majority of mild infections are not being diagnosed or reported. In Wuhan many infected die in the street or at home as they don't have the strength to wait six hours to be seen at screening centers. The Iranian Minister of Health telling the public on TV not to be concerned as he coughed and mopped his feverish brow before being taken to the hospital was a nice touch.
