A Look at the Future of AOL

You are at home or in your office and in one hand you have this cable which is buzzing with gigabits of internet information packets. You paid somebody to deliver this information stream. No software, no computers, just a cable buzzing with gigabits of internet information packets. To your right, boxes of software for creating and customizing information for your website and off-the-shelf applications that people on the outside can run to look at your information. Boxes and boxes of software. And a computer, too, waiting to connect with that cable and be setup with all that software. Beneath your coffee mug, a CD doubles as a coaster, the one that says America Online.

True or False:

1. Any developer can add features to the America Online browser.
2. It is better not to allow companies to independently go online.
3. Websites will stay pretty much the way they are for a few years.
4. America Online was modeled after the Soviet Union.

1. FALSE 2. FALSE 3. FALSE 4. TRUE
