I watched the presentation below by Dr. Aylward of WHO, who (sorry) just returned from China. Anyone concerned, and truly wanting to know what a leading expert, and general in this war to protect lives, believes it is worth the time.

Points made in the press conference;
I was wrong about China. They threw EVERYTHING they had it and it apparently is working. Debt be damned. And it was a cultural thing causing the cooperation, not strong arming. Their people were on board, they wanted to be part of the solution and a very very large majority of them trusted their institutions when the problem was explained to them. They trusted their government.
Now the major risk to China is going back to work too early or being reinfected from abroad.
The rest of the world is completely unready for what is about to occur. The airports and airlines of the world are what to avoid and it is too late to close the barn door.
Personally I feel America has too much mistrust of it's institutions to obey anything ordered from above, until fear takes over. Fear can be a great motivator. Maybe panic is what it will take to save lives.
My uncalled for advice. Do not congregate, wash your hands often, don't touch your face, or a mask if you wear one, push buttons with your top knuckles, cover your mouth when you cough and have 14+ days of "flu food and liquids" on hand for every member of your family. Try and keep 2-3 meters from others. The basics.
Typically only about 1/5 of American's get the standard flu, and the Corona virus only seriously affects about 1/5 of those who are infected. Meaning only a 4% chance, against all comers, of contracting this virus AND getting seriously sick. If you take precautions, damn what anyone else thinks, you will lower those odds even further. But it really looks like it is America's turn in the box.
There are more important things in life than money. OLED is still the screen tech of the present and future. It is going to take some time but UDC will back. Good luck to all. |
