AR,
Your technical analysis (TA) is right on. I must appologize for not responding to you frequent questions to me, but I have been busy as you can imagine with other stocks.
What has happened IMO, is that someone with a lot of money was forced to buy a lot of stock in the recent sell off. If that buyer was Dr. Joffe, he will have used a lot of needed cash to keep the stock price from going below acceptable levels. In affect this has established a support price as long as the buyers money can hold out.
What we have seen in this current price recovery, is a reflex rally pure and simple. As you have mentioned, there is substantial resistance in the $2 to $4 area. This resistance can only be overcomed by a period of base building; certainly longer than one or two weeks.
These reflex rallys can be very profitable, but they won't last for long, and profits should be taken when ever they exist, don't be greedy.
Current TA shows the following: The stock close at $1 25/32 on 1/23/98. The trading range on Thursday was an inside trading day, which to short term traders, signaled a potential trend reversal.
Upside resistance is $2.16; should that go, look for a test of $2.50, and then $4.00; but that is a big IF! Down side support in order of succession is, $1.56 (55 day WMA), $1.42 (8 day WMA). In the event of a major sell off, the stock could go to $0.85.
Concerning momentum indicators (MMI), short term MMI is within one day of sell, intermediate and long term are in a neutral to negative trend (indicating little to no stock accumulation). OBV and RSI are in a short term positive trend, but not indicative of long term accumulation.
In summary, this stock is a good trading candidate, but not ready for long term price appreciation. Hope this rambling analysis didn't put you to sleep.
Congratulations on your profits, this was a good trade.
