Pat, great link.The only problem I have with the article is that it implies that DELL's share grew 66% - not volume - vs 4th Q 1996.

In any case, I reworked total U.S.volume for Q4 97, not Americas, and it comes to 8.89 million units of which DELL scored 10.2%. This generates 907k units for DELL in Q4 97. Combine this with 389k units in Europe and we're at 1296k units. Rest of Americas & Asia constitute the balance - at least 170k units. This means we're somewhere between 1460k units and 1500k units.

IDC & Dataquest will probably provide us with the actual numbers in the next day or so.
