IDTI has already announced plans to include graphics functions and L2 cache on the C6. Brian said that they are evaluating what else to put on various versions of the C6 to create killer products. The beauty of the C6 core, as Perham pointed out during the last conference call, is that it is extremely tight and takes up a small footprint. It is also very streamlined and can be bumped up to higher frequencies rather easily. This makes it ideal for use in "systems-on-a-chip" designs. They have looked at including the advanned 3d graphics core with the C6 and increased on-chip cache but that would make it much larger and take away many of hte benefits of the optimized design. They are also evaluating a two-chip set that would include system logic, I/O, USB, graphics engine, etc. in addition to the C6+ core. Perham said that it wouldn't be a watered down product like Cyrix/NSM's MediaGX part.

I think we will see several interations of the C6 family by year end. They could target several diverse market segments: embeded X86 market, higher end Pentium MMX class market, desk-top and cable internet box (similar to the WebTV MIPS applications but capable of running Windows applications, optimized portable and hand-helds and others. The opportunities are huge and if they build them, the market will likely be there. The task is to continue the excellent engineering work and get these babies into high volume production.
