One little factoid that Dr. Campbell tossed out in one of his videos was that there is estimated to be 10 to the 31st types of viruses on this planet.
As "authoritative" as he sounds, with his The Times crossword style presentation, but me being the sort that I am; I looked into it.
It turns out that the number he threw out there as "types" of viruses on Earth is actually the amount of "virus particles" estimated to exist in Earth's oceans.
I might have to advise him of this. And I should have checked before I also shared his number attribution in a couple minor places elsewhere.
