Q4 call revealed progress with PIC initiative During KVH's recent Q4 conference call CEO Martin Kits van Heyningen said that last year KVH was on about 20 autonomous vehicle platforms. At present KVH is on 30-35 platforms. Of those, Martin said there are about 20 real major original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and start-up companies using KVH as a primary inertial solution. That has involved mostly the use of KVH's legacy products for the testing platforms. However, Martin said that "some of the bigger ones" have received KVH's new photonic chip-based version for testing and evaluation. Martin said KVH will start shipping the new ones with photonic integrated circuit (PIC) this month. As part of its PIC initiative KVH will be putting the circuits in its inertial measurement units (IMU) for high-end products. Martin said the goal is to have it in everything by the end of the year.
