Pat --

It's good to hear the chairman of Acer basically
reinforcing what Ayelsworth said on Thursday --
that S. Korean dram makers are slowing down their
equipment expenditures which should put Acer and
those who are upgrading equipment in a better position
a cycle or two down the road.

I saw an article (below) where S. Korean dram makers
are asking for help from the Japanese semi equip makers
(Canon, Nikon and others). But it doesn't sound
like this approach has much steam in it. I don't
think its such a great idea as it may weaken Japan's
position. I wonder how much money Samsung, Hyundai
and Semicon have already in 64 mb production and if we
will see their cutbacks in that cycle?

I'm glad to see that the potential of foreign investment
in S. Korean is getting stronger. A lot of earnings
reports (including TI) are predicting continued asian
impact in Q1 -- increased investment may help
to contain that impact.

Still waiting for C6x!

Regards,
Angela
