You can not convince me that there there is any plan behind the last 150 years of Chinese history. It is insanity at its highest level, resulting in the the deaths of more than 100 million people to war, famine, and political evil. The idea that any culture can think long term is pretty much absurd. One might gain that impression, but it is likely a short sighted ability to establish long term business relationships brought on by the chaos of the last century, and mistaken as a planned process of business dominance. Right now there are a lot of Asian economies that do not trust the Chinese to live up to their contracts, and expect them to prevaricate when the things go south. At the same time Westerners do business with the idea that the prices offered are so reasonable that even if the vendors default or fail to live up to their agreements, the risk is well worth the potential gain. Perhaps the individual Chinese are working so hard is because they understand the evil nature of a central government which is unfettered by democratic concepts and a legal system of justice, and simply hope to gain a bit of a reserve for when the next wave of destructive totalitarian madness sweeps through. It would certainly explain the pictures of people resisting the sham of Corona infection and ready to die doing so. If the Chinese look into the future it is one which the 'certainty factor' is significantly shorter than their counter parts in other major economies. Those that do get out and come as visitors are an arrogant sort of loud and uncouth kind of tourist that even make the Americans look cultured. If enough of the chinese people indeed reflect this small subset of the population there is hope they can change their government. Any hope of them actually moving to the top of the economic pile will depend on the modernization of their legal systems, and individual and corporate rights.
