Just a quick reply to this longish statement, koan. As I read the returns from last Tuesday and the slim polling we are getting ahead of next week's votes, the major thing happening is a very, very large shift toward the argument that the Dems just have to beat Trump. Whichever is most likely. And large, large swaths of voters have concluded Biden is most likely to do that. Very different from ideological splits. Which, to the degree they remain, will hand the presidency back to Trump. As for calling black voters in the south, low information voters, I would scold you if that would help. On the basis of everything I've read/heard/seen those black voters are very high information (many waited until the South Carolina results were in before deciding how to vote, very pragmatic (just beat Trump), and so on). It's definitely not low information; just different bets on the future. Beating Trump and gaining control of Congress is the first and second and third order of business.
