What do you mean by regressive movement?

I believe you are mixing up two social dynamics, but I can't be sure unless you explain your statement.

I am guessing you mean people who are moving to the right out of fears of things like immigration.

But the progressive movement is a state of mind that increasingly understands things like equal rights for women, gays and all races, etc. And that is the larger manifestation of progressive thought.

The progressive movement can be seen everywhere e.g. in today's:" International Women's day" where women around the world are marching for the freedom over their body and soul and being harassed and threatened by men.

Just a few years ago even Obama opposed gay marriage and today it is accepted throughout the world.

That is a perfect example of the forward thinking the progressive movement is humanizing the world with.
