Hmmm. New here, so not sure I get the 2026/2032 references...

Remember that thing with the cover of The Economist... that was said to be projecting "their plans" ?

The year they added GOLD on the cover... and it projected a date ? Hmmm. What date was that ?

My guess is the virus will probably accelerate a few things on a couple of people's timelines.

I do think the market, now, is reacting as much and more to failed government coronavirus containment efforts and policies as it is to anything else. There's a lack of confidence... for good reason. But, the virus is still just a pin... its the market that's a bubble... or, by now, more of a foam... bubble on top of bubble on top of bubble, etc.

Interesting times we live in...

Back in 2008 I missed a "once in a lifetime" chance... After the market melted down and imploded, one of the major casualties was the insurer of last resort... who had guaranteed or backstopped all of those AAA rated securities that were really only junk. Without the insurance... everything in the market was naked... no escaping it... and that meant the BANKS would end up being liable for their frauds.

Of course, the stock imploded and the insurance company was stone dead... I was still poking at it as I'm wont to do when following a disaster story, trying to learn from poking at the ashes left in the crater once they stop smoking.

It occurred to me that the only way they could put the humpty dumpty market back together again... required "making good" on the insurance... even though it wasn't good and there was no way to make it good. But, then, these are bankers... so, what's a little more fraud going to hurt ? The stock was trading at $0.0025 and I thought maybe I'd throw a couple thousand at it... Before I clicked to hit the trade... I got distracted by something... and then never did follow up on it. About a week later they actually did what I'd been thinking they might... the $0.0025 hit $0.25... so I chalked it up as learning experience... but, months later it was trading back up over $100... Every $1,000 would have been $4 million... Sigh.

So, what's going to happen this time ?

Some is pretty predictable... but there's always something someone missed...
