DELL fastest-growing PC maker globally from Austin Amercian-Statesman, Monday, January 26, 1998, page c1. Dell Computer posted the fastest growth of any major PC maker both worldwide and in the United States for 1997, according to Dataquest. In the United States, Dell was second only to Compaq in shipments and market share, posting 67.1 percent growth compared with Compaq's 51 percent growth for the year. Worldwide, Dell came in third to Compaq and IBM in market share, but was the leader in growth at 62.3 percent. The PC market as a whole grew 17 percent for 1997, Dataquest said. 3
