CPQ+DEC

The 1998 effect is unclear but looking forward to 1999 and beyond this is incredibly positive for CPQ. Look at it this way. They spend 1998 digesting TDM and DEC and emerge as a global powerhouse ready to roll with Merced-based Enterprise servers along with first-class support in 1999. Who else will be able to better dominate this market? They've widened the distance between themselves and all other PC companies and have served notice that they intend to take on IBM and win.

If there was any doubt before that CPQ should be regarded as a core holding this removes it.
