I don't think it is that complicated. There are not enough respirators to force oxygen into the lungs of those who get the virus with highly compromised lungs if it spreads quickly.

Washington State had the highest death rate in an old folks home... guessing most of them smoked at one time in their lives and probably don't run marathons or windsurf any more.

China has HUGE air pollution issues and loads of smokers... high death rate. Kids were pretty safe, even there.

We have most everything here shut down but the grade schools... in the center of Silicon Valley. A LOT of us adults smoked earlier in our dumb phases of lives plus we have a lot of retired, old people here to so I hope my lungs are clean after 21 years, but I still worry... as I am also just over 60 where the death rate starts to climb quickly.

The idea is to SPREAD the spread of the disease over a much longer period so we can have enough ventilators (probably a better name) to save lives of the elderly. As it is now, if everyone kept at what they were doing, we'd have to make decisions like Italy on who to treat with treatment given like in a war to those who will survive while those who probably won't live long, even with treatment, get nothing.

IF it is someone you love or care about that suffers from lack of facilities... then you won't be happy... If you don't care about others and you perhaps have access to concentrated oxygen at home... no big deal.

Of course the media is in the tank with the DNC and they will use any excuse to hammer Trump and this could cost him the election just as a meteor strike would be blamed on him for not having his Space Force ready to send Bruce Willis to stop it.
