3/13/2020 Contest update (Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.) COVID-19 made them close down Disneyland, “The Happiest Place on Earth,” while the saddest places on earth, the stock exchanges, remained open. Doesn’t seem right! Meanwhile, despite a Friday the 13th massive rally, by week’s end stock portfolios were still greatly impaired. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -27.65% YTD (vs. down -3.33% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -11.75% YTD (vs. down -.12% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -18.91% YTD (vs. down –3.37% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI), was down -12.70% YTD (vs. down -4.93% YTD a week ago). Although Contest leader JBOG’s portfolio was not immune to the carnage it managed to finish the week with 45.15% YTD gain. Second place FILO’s portfolio, up 15.81% YTD, also wound up in the green but a -0.46% YTD loss was good enough to put BULBA’s portfolio in third place. At Friday's close, a mere 2 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 10 beating the NBI and 16 beating the SPSIBI. The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD loss of -18.12% and a median YTD loss of -26.92%. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: None. (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.) Enjoy a safe & relaxing March weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
