Nancy Stone, a former photographer for the Chicago Tribune, said she had a similarly easy time getting through customs at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on her return trip from Madrid the same day.

Nancy Stone@NancyLStone
Arrived at O’Hare, the worlds busiest airport today from Madrid, a hot bed of #CoronavirusPandemic and sailed right thru passport and customs. There is NO protocol. Not one question asked, no temperatures being taken. Pandemic? What pandemic?

2)
Mike McIntire, an investigative reporter for the New York Times, shared that he faced “zero screening, testing or even questions related to coronavirus” when he returned from Paris on Thursday.

Mike McIntire@mmcintire
Just arrived at JFK from Paris. Zero screening, testing or even questions related to coronavirus (and the Global Entry scanner spit out someone else’s entry receipt for me, and the guy behind me got mine, and so on)

Vice News producer Julia Lindau tweeted last week that she had returned to the United States from the epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic in Italy and faced no screening.

Julia Lindau@julialindau
I just landed at JFK after reporting on #coronavirus in Milan and Lombardy —the epicenter of Italy’s outbreak— for @vicenews. I walked right through US customs. They didn’t ask me where in Italy I went or if I came into contact with sick people. They didn’t ask me anything.

The president’s claim that travelers entering the United States are required to undergo coronavirus testing—very heavily or otherwise—is false.
