I guess gold must turn red so that the rest can turn green, else folks might ... gulp ... panic, for there is not enough gold, and what there is has multiple owners for each gram

they do not want people to wake up at 2:00am, in cold sweat, thinking about their young, and say to spouse, "what have I done?", for that would be bad psychology and make them grumpy

green is good

in some sense we do not need to panic until 'they' outlaw red.
