Jim, is it true that if the president stated that he did not have a sexual relationship with Monica when he testified under oath in the Paula Jones deposition, and in fact he did, that would be pretty UNambiguous, and therefore he could be charged with perjury?
The number of women who have sex outside of marriage in America is usually shown to be considerably less than for men, and the number that sticks in my mind is about 35% from the last survey I read, although of course different studies result in different numbers.
The polls SO FAR on Clinton's behavior show that the American public is much more upset about perhaps being lied to, and the president committing felonies, than whether he had an affair. The facts that the woman is much closer to his daughter's age than his, and that as an intern at the White House he was in some position of assumed trust with her, are disturbing to many in the American public, but still only a minority believes he should resign based simply on the sexual relationship, if he did have one.
The press if full of polls today!! This one is interesting--I love interactive stuff because I just got to vote on whether oral sex is adultery, and everyone else here can, too. I just still cannot believe that this is a huge subject in the press, and I think the fact that it is has sort of released everyone's inhibitions about fascinating, but graphic, subjects to discuss:

And then here is the very latest poll on national sentiment regarding the legal, and sexual morality, issues as this all unfolds:
