Agreed. Asian cultures are different in several ways from Americans. For one, here in the US, we were founded with and continue to have a very strong culture of individuality and independence and self-reliance, as well as skepticism of governments. In Asia, they have a strong cultural loyalty to the collective and oftentimes will suborn individual rights and perform great sacrifices for the collective. We do that here in the US as well, but to a lesser degree and only if we are allowed to freely choose to do so in an altruistic way. When the government imposes it on us, then we recoil. Subservience is not an American trait at all.

But with the Millennials and Gen Z, that is changing. They no longer prize privacy and individuality and they love collectivism and Socialism. So they are more Asian than American from that perspective. So they will be more pliable when it comes to doing what the government says. For the rest of us older guard, they'll need to implement martial law to get us to do what they say. I am self-quarantining with my wife, because it seems reasonable, but if the government puts a military guy on my doorstep and tells me to do it, then I will not like that at all. It's a uniquely American perspective. LOL.
