LOL. Err... uhh.... no. This is not just out of context, but is woefully distorted, to the point of being political propaganda.
From the NYT:
“...Later, in an interview with Mr. Hannity, the president cast doubt on the rate of death reported by the World Health Organization:
“Well, I think the 3.4 percent is really a false number. Now, this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this, because a lot of people will have this, and it’s very mild. … So, if we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.” “ nytimes.com
Trump’s quoted comment was his observation, made in the context of questioning WHO death statistics and contrasting it to the virus’s lesser effects on thousand or hundreds of thousands. It was NOT a recommendation to go to work. Any assertion to the contrary is pure political BS.
Even Snopes says so, so it must be true, right?
“...While Trump truly did say that ’some of them go to work,’ which may have downplayed the seriousness of the situation, he didn’t recommend at this time that people should keep going to work despite the pandemic....“ snopes.com
Trump is a germophobe. Do germophobes encourage sick people to spread their germs?
Finally, to anybody concerned about the virus and the US response, please take careful note that at the end of January, Trump was instituting travel restrictions to prevent the importation of more virus from China to the U.S. At that exact same time, what was Congress doing? Impeaching Trump on a purely partisan basis. Does anyone recall Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, or their band of rabid impeachment managers mentioning the Wuhan virus even once during the impeachment? No.
This thread has some valuable investment comments, but some of the fantastical, nonsensical, extremist political propaganda gives one pause. |
