Our Congressman had tickets to the Sunday and Monday game between the Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis team. My senior partner took the Sunday game and as the Junior I got the Monday game tickets.

That Sunday, Detroit got drubbed by the Cardinals. It was cold and rained as well. The loss looked like doomsday for Detroit.

On Monday, I went and sat in the same seats along the first base line. The sun was gorgeous, it was warm, Jose sang and half cheered his rendition and the other half booed. I was in the half that cheered. Come On Baby, Light My Fire... Detroit Won, the momentum switched to the Tigers as they went to St. Louis and won the World Series. I think the year was 1968. It is the last time Detroit won the World Serious. Don't know where Jose is today, but on that October day he sang the National Anthem from his heart. He was proud to be an American.

I was on the road yesterday and missed the 1st half including the National Anthem. I did get to see the IOM commercial near the end of the game. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
