The current discussion largely got going by me responding to a post by FUBHO claiming that China could have reduced their cases to about 0.05 IF they had not muzzled a few early whistle-blowers who raised the alarm. For your viewing consideration is the following plot, which I've added a few lines to. The heavy orange straight line is what China would have done to be at 0.05 of their actual over that period. It would certainly have been possible, given that three other countries did significantly better than that, HK, Singapore and Japan. BUT, China was first, and had to figure out what it was, and then how to fight it.

However, the USA then had about 6 weeks of notice. So I'm curious if you, like FUBHO, think that China should have been along the orange line, and would have been along that line if they had only not ignored those whistle-blowers, and if so, then how do you explain the USA line, which I've added a heavy straight red one to make clearer. FWIW, I think the USA's line is mostly explained by Trumps response, including all the idiotic statements you and eet think are distortions and lies by people like me:
