I shall risk a guess, that the 2 trillion dollar bailout of everything belonging to everyone located everywhere, largess of Uncle Sam at cost to everyone, coincidentally everywhere, shall end up per mission-creep, cost north of 6 trillion and if lucky south of 8 trillion.

This is what typically happen during war, position the check book for free-flow.

Cheaper for the people if the state simply buy the beaten down shares for later sale at pyrrhic profit, at least having the treasury cash flow go round-and-round.
