But Team China did stop it. Rest of the world fumbled.

Somebody recently (I think it was Sense; Thank you Sense!) posted a quote. I knew the quote but needed to be reminded. I looked further, because it is an important quote. I put a link below.

Yes. China stopped the problem in its tracks, as far as we know. What is remarkable is that they were able to do it quickly and somewhat efficiently. There will always be people in the Western world who will not approve of their methods, their views invariably being a function of how they live.

I think people do not recognize the importance of being able to solve problems of scale.

The point is China stopped it in its tracks. US intelligence knew in November. The US public knew by January. And we had dollops of "only 15 people", "it will disappear miraculously by April" etc etc. from the Orange contingent.

Now the pitch is: "I only wish China had informed us sooner".

What are people smoking if they cannot tell the difference between a life-long marketer and a real problem solver? How have things gone so bad in this country?

Now we have to deal with the fact that an autocratic regime quickly handled something a democracy may quite possibly turn into a disaster. How does one get out of this comparison while still trying to look good? Well, it all depends on how many blindfolds you have managed to hand out in advance.

Real problem solvers exist. They are in short supply. The marketers are running the show because we have been trained to look for entertainment --- even in education. I've never understood the "you're not teaching me if it's not fun argument!" they push in schools. The fun in learning must be internally generated, and to do it any other way has untold costs. We are seeing these costs play out in real time. Even on these boards
