I believe I have a better way to respond to the virus, that better balances public health and the economy.

In Cuomo's morning briefing, he suggested a better way that could "stratify" the response, but gave no details of what that might look like.

Below is my proposal.

Make three age categories:

Level 1: Ages 0-50.
Restrictions:
  • No social distancing restrictions between those in your level.
  • Can go to work, restaurants, bars, theaters, and gyms.

Level 2: Ages 50-69.
Restrictions:
  • Stay at home: except for groceries, gas, pharmacy.

Level 3 Ages 70+
Restrictions:
  • Lock down. Now visitors, or any interaction between any level.

Those in each level can have no interaction with anyone outside their level.

For households that have persons of multiple levels, all persons in that household are bound by the restrictions of the highest level in the household.

This strategy will allow the elderly to be protected, but also allow the economy to keep functioning. It will accelerate the herd immunity in the Level 1 group (with low mortality), so that they are no longer contagious. It will flatten the curves for Level 2 and Level 3, until therapies and vaccines can be developed.

If you agree, share it on Twitter, FB, and your other social media. Make it go viral. Time is wasting.
