Paul: As enggs, we are victims of logical thinking.I agree with your picture of CPQ future, but will also say this.. There have been big red flags out on cpq, with no move up in leading to the split, nor because of all the recent very positive news, and it was not keeping up with Dell ( also in my rules, it should have been sold the day of the split) For future sales of servers and mini's , company reputation will govern who gets the contract. At BA we were limited to buying the best test equipment, IBM, HWP regardless of cheaper. So I would still fear HWP as a competitor as some of the same jokers may still work there(ggg) Dell has a great rep. with GSA and big corps on computers, so will have no problem going against Cpq etc on the big stuff when ready to do that. CPQ now has another indigestion problem with DEC.and street did not even like their buying of tandem! Short term I expect Dell will now leave cpq even furthur in its wake, esp. as Dell is coming up on earnings and a possible split. <<<<If this really goes on Dell has to make a few new moves to keep in shape>>> Agreed they can and will after they get caught up on never ending orders ggggg Overall, I do not consider it a best investment to own stock in the biggest company in the field, would prefer #2,#4, etc. Big T is still heading for the basement.. Two other pluses for Dell are the stock buyback, intead of cpq stock dilution, and zero long term debt. Sincerely, Sig |
