Here's another way to measure it. Look at new cases and subtract consecutive days from each other. If the numbers are the same or less for 5 days, then we are on our way to the inflectional point. NOTE: at the inflection point, you will have at least 3 (preferably 5) days that are equal or less i.e. the deference is zero or negative.

If today's number of new cases for Italy had been the same or less, we could have cautiously concluded that Italy is at an inflection point (and confirm it in 2 days). But anything less is just too prone to noise.
